Compression molding is often a method of molding when the molding material, generally preheated, is first placed in an open, heated style cavity. The mold is closed with a top force or connect member, pressure is ascribed to force the material directly into contact with all form areas, while heat plus pressure are maintained right up until the molding material has cured; this process is known as compression molding method and in the event that of rubber it might be known as 'Vulcanisation'. The method employs thermosetting resins in a partially cured stage, either by means of granules, putty-like masses, or maybe preforms.
Compression molding is often a high-volume, high-pressure method suitable for molding complex, high-strength fiberglass reinforcements. Advanced composite thermoplastics can also be compression molded with unidirectional tapes, weaved fabrics, randomly oriented soluble fiber mat or chopped strand. The advantage of compression molding can be its ability to mold large, fairly intricate segments. Also, it is one of the lowest cost molding methods in contrast to other methods such seeing that transfer molding and shot molding; moreover it harmful toxins relatively little material, giving it an edge when working with expensive compounds.
